Whether you're in your 20s, 30s, 40s, or older, if arthritis
or joint pain slows you down or keeps you from your daily
activities, don't suffer in silence.
Clinical studies have shown that CELEBREX therapy can
benefit adults with these painful conditions:
- Acute pain. CELEBREX can start to
relieve moderate-to-severe pain within one hour of the
first dose for many adults.
- Painful menstrual cramps (primary dysmenorrhea).
Women who suffer from painful menstrual cramps can
experience relief from CELEBREX. And CELEBREX starts
working within one hour of the first dose.
- Osteoarthritis (OA). CELEBREX can
relieve pain, inflammation, and stiffness, and ease
daily activities such as walking and climbing stairs.
- Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). CELEBREX
can relieve the joint tenderness, pain, and swelling of
RA in adults.
CELEBREX
is a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
. Other NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen, block the actions of both
COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. COX-2 plays a role in pain and
inflammation. COX-1 is involved in blood clotting, kidney
function, and protection of the stomach lining. CELEBREX is
different from some other NSAIDs because it blocks only the
inflammation- and pain-producing COX-2 enzyme without
inhibiting the COX-1 enzyme at therapeutic doses.
Important safety information: CELEBREX
is not for everyone. CELEBREX should not be taken in late
pregnancy or if you've had aspirin-sensitive asthma or
allergic reactions to aspirin or other arthritis medicines
or certain drugs called sulfonamides. In rare cases, serious
stomach problems, such as bleeding, can occur without
warning. The most common side effects in clinical trials
were indigestion, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Tell your
doctor if you have kidney or liver problems. If you think
you are having an allergic reaction or if you have other
severe or unusual symptoms while taking CELEBREX, call your
doctor or other healthcare professional immediately.
